Our Story

Jammy

We (Sammy and Jarred) moved out to the Pacific Northwest in 2012 from New York City.  We have always lived by the belief that you should do what you love, and now that we had a fresh start, we decided to pursue something that we are both very passionate about…food!  The smells, the tastes, the raw visual beauty of natural ingredients and then merging all of these wonderful senses; we can’t get enough!

One of our first experiences in the region was going to our local farmers market. We were awestruck by the outpouring support from the community for its local food vendors.  On our first outing, we were already making friends with food vendors and farmers and joined our first CSA.  We were amazed at the variety of specialty foods people were creating and we were instantly inspired.

So, you might be asking, why mac and cheese?  Well, why not!?!?  It’s the perfect comfort food and one that we enjoy time and time again!  We came from a city filled with specialty mac and cheese shops, where the pasta was piled high and the cheese ran thick; each one putting their own twist on noodles and cheese.  Armed with a few classic recipes that Sammy had in her arsenal, we hit the kitchen and prepared some samples.

We already knew how fantastic our recipes were, but we were completely unprepared for how much others seem to love them!  We first shared our mac with a few friends and almost immediately we were asked to attend a local craft fair to share with others.  We did a lot of scrambling to get our business registered, licensed, and armed with trays of ooey-gooey mac and cheese…we started dishing out the samples.

After our first event, we began getting cold-called for orders.  We now needed to figure out how to sell. This is when we found our beloved 8oz round MeltMac pans! We visited our friends at the farmers’ markets and they immediately became our biggest fans.  They helped guide us in the proper direction for what would become a quick recipe for success!  By the end of the year, we were selling in 6 farmers’ markets, and in two local stores!

Our MeltMac flavors are inspired by the bounty of the Pacific Northwest and the amazing variety of locally available ingredients. We have a wide selection of flavors to offer, and are particularly proud of our seasonal “Harvest” mac flavors which rotate throughout the year using the freshest farmers’ market produce available. It’s our way of paying homage to the local producers and growers who helped get us our start.

We have tons of fun making our MeltMacs and our biggest reward is watching new customers enjoying it for the very first time.  There are limitless mac and cheese possibilities waiting to be discovered and we hope you enjoy trying them all as much as we enjoy creating them!
